WAMS - Working Age Multiple Sclerosis support group provides a much loved and valued service for the community. WAMS provides advice and support for those affected by the illness Multiple Sclerosis, no matter if they are the person with the illness, family, carer or friends.
We supply information in a variety of leaflets and booklets etc, from Disability Discrimation, Adult Social Care, various NHS departments such as the Neurological Team and their therapists, MS Therapy Centre, legal and work issues, DWP, home adaptions, MS Tissue Bank, disability at work, estates and probate, local authority departments such a Carers Centre, Telecare Team, Hampshire Fire brigade home safety, Hampshire Police safety in the home for disbaled people. All the information we give is free, no matter of personal circumstances, anyone is welcome to attend, we can also provide certain information which can be used for other disabilties such as Cancer, Parkinsons, Deaf, and so on.
We hold monthly meetings at Waterlooville Community Centre in the York room, on the first Wednesday of the month from 6.30pm til 9.30 where we have a different yearly schedule of talks and meetings where professionals from various fields as mentioned above in the types of information we can supply, we are based in Portsmouth and we are a small non profit unincorporated charity, and not link with other larger UK or International charities or businesses or linked by the local NHS or councils etc.
We are looking into assisting those on low income to purchase aids such as devices and equipment that is not available via the NHS or local authority, as we know it can be difficult to carry on with a normal lifestyle while having a life depleting illness.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
Thank you for your support and good luck!
