Next Portsmouth Lottery draw on Sat 30 May at 8PM
The draw is in 4 days 21 hours 34 minutes!
The Vernon Monument Project, founded in 2008, is the campaign charity committed to designing, constructing and installing a monument in the centre of Gunwharf Quays. The site, previously occupied by HMS Vernon, in Portsmouth, Hampshire, was home to a range of specialist warfare organisations, both Naval and Military, over several centuries. The world of underwater warfare was the focus of many people who worked, trained and were based in this site. This dangerous work continues daily in many parts of the world. There are Mine Countermeasures Vessels in the Arabian Gulf and other theatres and clearance divers continue to dispose of explosive ordnance both in the UK and abroad.
The monument was installed and unveiled on 17 March 2020, a rushed but nevertheless moving affair, brought forward by the deadly coronavirus
With your help we have now installed the monument but must continue with our fundraising efforts to pay for future improvements, maintenace and repairs.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
David Sandiford, Trustee, Project Manager and Treasurer.
